Vehicle Tracking FAQ’s

Q. How does vehicle tracking work?

A. Vehicle tracking systems work using GPS (Global Positioning System). This is a satellite-based radio navigation system that provides location and time information anywhere in the world. There are 24 satellites orbiting the Earth 12,000 miles above us in space. When a tracking device is fitted to your vehicle, a GPS receiver can determine its position thanks to orbiting GPS satellites.

Data is fed back to our customers via a user-friendly system which enables you to make informed decisions about your business vehicles and drivers.

Q. What can business vehicle tracking tell us?

A. The data that comes back from the GPS receiver doesn’t just tell you about your vehicle’s location. Our user-friendly tracking system gives you real-time updates on a vehicle's direction, speed, idle time and more.

If you’re running a whole fleet, you be able to see each vehicle’s movements quickly and easily, so you can make on-the-spot decisions and plan ahead to improve efficiency.

Reports on driver behaviour help you spot harsh braking or acceleration incidents, so you can build an accurate picture of an employee’s driving style and take any necessary action to improve fuel efficiency and reduce the risk of an accident.

Q. With what frequency does vehicle tracking report all this information?

A. Tracking of your vehicles is live – and it updates data every 60 seconds…or quicker if required. Your tracking system can be configured in a multitude of ways to provide you with live data, daily, weekly and monthly reporting.

Q. Who installs the tracking device?

A. Our trained installation team can install the device for you free of charge – anywhere in the UK.

Q. How long does the installation take?

A. Depending on the vehicle, installations take between 20 minutes and 45 minutes.

Q. How do we access the tracking data or reports?

A. Our service is entirely web-based. Therefore you can access our system from any PC, laptop or mobile phone. You can also use our free App to view all your tracked vehicles, live.

Q. Will anyone know that a tracking system is installed in my vehicles?

A. No. The system is installed covertly, so it is not visible to anyone inside or outside of the vehicle.

Q. How much does vehicle tracking cost?

A. There are many cost options for vehicle tracking. Prices start from under £8.00 per month but please contact us about current offers.

Q. Will my insurance be discounted as a result of fitting vehicle tracking?

A. It has been proven that vehicle tracking improves driver behaviour and increases the chance of recovering a vehicle if stolen. For these reasons alone, the majority of quality insurance companies will offer great discounts for vehicles fitted with tracking technology. This can be as much as 25% and is generally available to both commercial fleets and single owner drivers.

Q. What is GPS?

A. GPS stands for Global Positioning System. It is a satellite based navigation system, first created in the 1970s, which gives multiple pieces of data anywhere there is an unobstructed view of 4 or more satellites. The system, which is maintained by the US Government, is free to access for anyone with a GPS receiver.

Q. What is GSM?

A. GSM Stands for Global System for Mobile communications. It is a standard introduced by ETSI – European Telecommunications Standards Institute and it is used to describe the technologies for second generation (2G) digital cellular networks and beyond.
